Hey y'all I hope this finds everyone in good health or as good as can be
expected. I know Mike T. sent an e-mail about Cross City and I to want to share
our experience with you. Let me start by telling you that I didn't want to go
and was even still reluctant on Friday Night after getting up there, "Why couldn't I be sick?"
But as we were at Dinner with Mike, Danielle, Scotty, and Jessica, it was then during all the conversations Jessica said that "..if we were going to be effective that we had to decrease but God must increase". I thought about that and asked God to do that with me as I still didn't want to go in.
We met up at the training grounds for the guards and left our stuff and got in a big caravan to go into the prison. Now understand, we were to ride around the outside blowing our horns and revving up our engines as we went. That morning I still was asking God to help me with my attitude towards the prisoners and to see them as People not as scum. About the second time around (on the bikes) my heart ached and I began to cry as we looked and the men were looking out and waving at us and then it became very real to me that it is ONLY by the grace of God that I am not in there but most of all that I am no better or worse than they are and that if Loise had not come to me and asked me if I would like to receive Christ in my life then I would probably not be here or typing this to you.
And that was also the time that I realized that if I didn't tell these men about Christ then, who would? Folks, let me tell you it was one of the best days in my life as I had the opportunity to share what God had done in my life and what He could do in theirs, I was able to pray with about 10 inmates (PEOPLE) and 4 of the 10 said that they did mean what they said and had asked Christ into their hearts, and came up to me later and thanked me for coming up there and sharing with them. I guess God can still use Donkeys.
As Mike has said that we will have another opportunity coming up on June 11th to share a day of our lives and what God has done for us with other inmates this time in Hillsborough County. Please if you really want a BLESSING Please register for this event by May 18th and I Promise, you will not forget it.
